Sense of Creativity on a sticker placed on a tree with a town in the background.
Listen, if you want to stay nimble in an ever-changing environment, then stop scrolling and pay attention right now.

What I’m about to tell you could help you transform fizzled business plans into future business success. (I’m banking on it to help me with mine.)
See, everyone knows that when you have the ability to deliver and receive a creative critique you broaden your insights and when you have more insights you make better choices. Even in the face of wild unknowns.

Look, being good at giving and receiving feedback is one of the best ways you can grow, recover, or pivot your creative business. In fact, learning about the creative critique process will help you make valuable feedback actionable and leave the rest behind.

Think about that for a second… Imagine what you can do if you could filter out the noise and incrementally iterate while retaining a sense of creative control.

In this live episode of Retail Charm School, Charles Fadem, a seasoned commercial and residential architect at Board & Vellum and co-host of the Design Goggles podcast joins the show to share tips and tricks when it comes to growing through feedback.

DURING THIS INTERVIEW, YOU WILL:
  • Learn how to give and receive a creative critique
  • Understand the difference between a critique and a criticism
  • Know how to ask for, look for, and interpret feedback

ABOUT CHARLES FADEM:
Working for years in New York City, Charles forged an eclectic background, working in corporate interiors, residential interiors, historical restoration, and eventually high-rise, mixed-use residential. During that time, he founded a graphic design company, as well. Eventually, he landed at Handel Architects, a firm run by a few of his former professors.

After a brief layover in Philly doing some freelance work, Charles moved to DC, first working at Shalom Baranes Associates, where he rediscovered his love of interiors. It was there that his passion for the challenge of designing the human scale experience took hold. It led to another unique opportunity at Hickok Cole Architects, working in their fledgling Lifestyle Interiors department.

Charles had been keeping tabs on Board & Vellum from afar, and got in touch when an opportunity opened up. He packed himself into a rental car and drove across the country with his dog, Q, a Tibetan Terrier named after the subway train back in New York. When he’s not designing interiors at Board & Vellum on Capitol Hill in Seattle, he can be found writing fiction, drooling over classic cars, or working on his own slightly less than classic ‘12 Mustang.
